Water
Unlike any other commodity, water has no substitute regardless of price. Huge efficiency gains in water distribution, treatment, use, and reuse must be made to address the growing imbalance between water supply and demand in both developed and developing economies.

Case Studies : Asian Consumer Electronics
In December 2007, an Asian consumer electronics company with over $150B in revenues hired Aquillian to provide industry research.
| Structure: | Retainer |
| Function: | R&D, Corporate Venturing |
| Geography: | North America, Europe |
| Target: | Private Equity, Venture Capital, Direct Deals |
| Sectors: | Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy, Water, Waste, Building, Health |
The initial discussion with Aquillian involved a comparison of the most significant cleantech venture capital funds currently raising capital. Over time, it emerged that the client was less interested in investing in a specific venture capital fund, than in gaining knowledge and deal flow in cleantech.
Aquillian presented an efficient way to access the sector. Because cleantech as an investment area is fairly new, it requires particular expertise. Aquillian’s approach, based on a value chain analysis that surfaces the pain points within established industries, proved to be consistent with the client’s venturing strategy.
Now, on an ongoing basis, Aquillian advises the client on technology and industry trends in its areas of interest, currently defined as energy efficiency, renewable energy, water, waste, building, and health.
In addition, Aquillian provides information on relevant investment opportunities, and assists the client in conducting due diligence and negotiations for the companies and funds that it introduces.
